Who should see a Counselor?

Many people could benefit from the help of a counselor from time to time. The most common misconception about counseling is that it is only for people with serious mental illnesses. Most counselors specialize in helping people cope with common problems of daily living. Such problems include stress, anxiety, depression, marital difficulties, divorce, sexual issues, children’s problems, and many other difficulties which may affect a person’s happiness and general well-being.

All too often we try to solve our own problems alone, only to see them recur or become worse. Seeing a counselor is not a sign of serious mental illness or personal “weakness”; rather, it indicates you are taking a positive step to achieve personal growth and development.
