Judy Jacques, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, has over 20 years experience in her field. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and her masters degree in Social Work from Boston College. Her experience includes positions as a Clinical Director in mental health agencies. She has also worked in a school for teens with psychiatric challenges, hospital psychiatric inpatient and partial hospitalization program with emphasis on addiction and recovery, and several years in private practice. She has facilitated support groups for teens with anxiety and depression, and adult separation/divorce support groups. Her specialties include couples; eating disorders; sleep problems; trauma; blended families; self-esteem; job stress, ADD in children and adults; self-harm behaviors, depression; anxieties, including panic attacks and phobias; and alcohol dependence, substance abuse, and other addictions such as gambling, internet, and sex. Ms. Jacques enjoys working with children, teens, adults, and families from ages 3-93.
Ms. Jacques uses a variety of therapeutic approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, solution-focused therapy, exposure therapy, mindfulness, and family systems therapy. She believes that clients come to therapy as a sign of courage and strength. She has a welcoming and calm demeanor, while always inserting humor into her sessions. She gives tools and therapy homework to help promote improvement in her clients’ mood and life situation.
